About
Photography began for me when I received a half-frame Olympus film camera when I was 15. It has proven to be the most memorable Christmas gift of all time, and for that, I thank my brother, Jon, for bringing it home from his post in Japan. I used it to create an award-winning photo while traveling in the Sierras, as a drawing tool in art school, and to document details of my world. It had its limitations and I learned to push those boundaries. I used other film cameras, large and small, and in 1998 I purchased my first digital camera, a Kodak no less, to record the blooming of the first Amophophallus titanum to bloom in the United States in 60 years, the famous “Mr. Stinky.” Nowadays I shoot with both an iPhone and a digital camera and find myself still pushing the boundaries of the tools, my knowledge of them and learning about the light before me. It’s been a fantastic journey!
